Nomads Magpies GladaitorsEurope’s oldest Mixed Ability Rugby Team, the Swansea Gladiators who have recently been in talks with the WRFU about Mixed Ability Rugby in Wales, traveled to Yorkshire amidst the worst flooding in years this weekend. The ‘Glads’ who will soon be celebrating their 25th Anniversary  took up the invitation from Veteran side Huddersfield Nomads.
In a weekend that saw cancelled games across Yorkshire and Cumbria Huddersfield YMCA hosted a classic Mixed Ability Rugby game. Despite the scheduled Yorkshire Carnegie game being shifted back to Headingley the Gladiators took on a combined Nomads and Halifax Magpies side on the less saturated pitch two at the Laund Hill ground.
The combined home team of Nomads and Magpies had at least ten men on the bench at the start of the game and as the older Gladiators started to pick up some injuries they were bolstered by a visiting Bumbles player, and a father and son combination from Aldwinians RFC who are hoping to champion the latest MA Team supported by International Mixed Ability Sports and the RFU.
With Swansea Gladiators denied a try for ‘double movement’ in the dying moments of the game the score finished at 14 – 7 to the hosts.

IMAS Trainers will be showing their Inclusion in Rugby Presentation at Aldwininians RUFC on Monday 16th November at 7pm.
