More than 25 teams and clubs will gather in Chicureo on 24 October for the latest edition of the championship, which will feature four sports for the first time.
Chile is preparing for a new milestone in the development of Mixed Ability sport. On 24 October 2026, Club Dunalastair in Chicureo will host the 4th Mixed Ability National Championship, bringing together more than 25 teams and clubs from different regions of the country for a day of sport, participation and connection.
Organised by Fundación Tarucas, the championship reflects the growing momentum of Mixed Ability sport in Chile. By bringing together athletes with and without disabilities, the event promotes shared sporting experiences, strengthens community connections and helps build a sporting culture where everyone has the opportunity to participate.
Four Sports, One Shared Vision
This fourth edition marks an important milestone, bringing together four sports for the first time in a single event: Rugby, Hockey, Artistic Skating and Basketball.

Basketball will feature in the National Championship for the first time, expanding opportunities for participation and highlighting the versatility of the Mixed Ability model across different sports.

The programme will feature rugby competitions across two pitches, hockey across two pitches, artistic skating on a covered rink, and basketball in an indoor gymnasium.

Fundación Tarucas would like to extend its sincere thanks to Club Dunalastair for hosting this fourth edition of the championship. Its generosity and commitment help create valuable opportunities for connection and participation through Mixed Ability sport.
Building a More Inclusive Sporting Culture
The Tarucas Mixed Ability National Championship is much more than a sporting competition. It provides an opportunity for clubs, athletes, families and organisations to come together, share experiences and help foster a sporting culture where everyone can participate and make a valuable contribution.
Vicente Lazo, President of Fundación Tarucas, reflects on the organisation’s remarkable growth:
“It is incredibly rewarding to see how we have grown from just eight people seven years ago to more than 350 today, across eight sports and with over 10 Mixed Ability teams supported throughout Chile, from Arica to Curicó. This growth shows the real need for spaces where inclusion is built on equal terms, without segregation or adaptation, simply through the power of sport.”
The participation of organisations from across Chile will also help strengthen connections within the Mixed Ability community and raise the profile of a model that values every athlete, fosters mutual respect and promotes participation on equal terms.
Fundación Tarucas continues to create new opportunities for sporting participation and drive the growth of the Mixed Ability model across Chile.
At IMAS, we celebrate this progress and recognise the commitment of the organisations, clubs and athletes who are helping to strengthen and advance the development of Mixed Ability sport across Chile.

Chile is gearing up for a day of sport, connection and shared opportunities, where the Mixed Ability model will continue to demonstrate that sport is a space for everyone.
